Sections with easy access from Beijing

Great Wall of China Map Great Wall at Badaling: The Great Wall at Badaling was the first one which opened for tourism. It gets very crowded, most tourist buses come here, but it is right on the Expressway and therefore easy to get to. Crowds and all, the views from here are magnificent.

Great Wall of China Map Great Wall at Huanghua: The Great Wall at Huanghua has been undergoing some renovation, but it used to be the closest you could get to the "wild" wall and a very authentic experience. Check before you head out here as some portions may be closed and be ready for a tough climb.
Great Wall of China Map Great Wall at Mutianyu: The Great Wall at Mutianyu is located in Huairou County, about 70 km northeast of Beijing. It is fully renovated and not as crowded as Badaling, it is worth the short extra drive. Great Wall of China Map Great Wall at Juyongguan: The Great Wall at Juyongguan in Changping County, is the closest to Beijing and very easy to get to as it is in the path of the Badaling Expressway. It is completely renovated, and doesn't have the "ancient" feeling. This is your best bet if you don't have much time.
Great Wall of China Map Great Wall at Simatai and Jinshanling: The hike from Jinshanling to Simatai is a very popular one. These sections are about a 3 hour drive from Beijing, and are therefore not as crowded. Few restoration has been done here, giving it a more authentic feeling, but also a tougher trek. The views are spectacular.
