The Chimelong International Circus

The Chimelong International Circus is truly a class act and was one of the highlights of our visit. It is one of the most entertaining one-and-a-half hours you could spend in Guangzhou and it was the perfect end to a fun-filled day at the nearby Chimelong Safari Park.

With hundreds of international performers that hail from all parts of the world, the stage comes to life with the array of acrobats, dancers, clowns, and animal performers that put together a series of spectacular shows combined with stunningly coreographed music, lights, lasers and fireworks.

The action is non-stop and it takes place all over the arena, parades come through the audience and animals might be flying over your head.

Tips for visiting Chimelong International Circus

• The Circus is about an hour from Guangzhou City Center, if you have the time, make it a day outing by combining a visit to the nearby Chimelong Xiangjiang Safari Park.

• Getting There: While not exactly just around the corner, it is very easy to get there with the metro.
  

  Take Line 3 to Hanxi Changlong. At the exit there will be shuttle buses that whisk you straight to Chimelong.

• There are also shuttle buses to take you from the Safari Park to the circus.

• Circus performances are from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Gates open at 7:00 p.m.

• There is no assigned seating, unless you buy VIP tickets, so try to be there early to pick a good seat, specially during weekends and holidays.

• Seat close to the front for the best action, but beware you might get wet during some of the acts involving lots of water splashing.

• The parade comes through the middle of the arena, so seating in the second section is also a good spot to catch this part of the action.

• The Circus is only one of several attractions by the Chimelong Group and located within a sprawling resort which besides a hotel also include the Safari Park, a water park, an amusement park with roller-coasters and rides, and a crocodile park. You can buy "combo" tickets which will save you some money if you are visiting more than one Chimelong attraction.

• During Chinese New Year there are three daily performances.
