China Travel Insurance
...Why Travel Insurance, What are my Options?
Do I Need Travel Insurance for my Trip to China?
We do recommend that everyone traveling to China or any foreign country for that matter get the appropriate coverage to safeguard the holiday from
any unexpected incidents.
Travel
insurance is not only for medical emergencies, which your existing medical policy may or may not cover, but will also provide assistance in cases of trip
delays or interruptions, evacuations, lost baggage... and then there's also the peace of mind of knowing that if something does
go wrong there will be a helping hand and someone ready to assist you to sort it out.
In some cases if you are going on an organized tour, the operator may require that you have overseas travel insurance.
And when you think about the cost of your trip including flights, accomodations,
perhaps some tours and activities, and the cost of a travel insurance policy, this is something you cannot afford to travel without!
A standard policy provides coverage for things like:
- Medical Expenses including Dental
- Emergency Evacuation
- Trip Cancellation, Interruption or Delay
- Baggage Loss or Delay
- Car Rental Collission
- Accidental Death
- Unlimited Worldwide Travel Assistance
To give you an example on the cost of travel insurance, a standard policy thorugh one of our selected providers World Nomads for a family of four (2 adults, 2 children under 18) traveling for
3 weeks is only US$170.
China Travel Insurance Options
Simple & flexible with WorldNomads
World Nomads policies provide the basic coverage, they focus on what you need and leave out what you don't so they can offer very competitive prices.
You can buy, extend and claim online even after you've left home.
It is available to people from over 140 countries.
The WorldNomad travel policy is very straight-forward, there is a "Standard" option and an "Explorer" option. In most cases, the "Standard" options is sufficient.
A range of adventure sports and activities like
sky diving or hot air ballooning are covered under the "Explorer" option. But your standard policy should take care of activities like rafting trips and bike tours.
The cost of the policy will vary depending on your country of residence and your destination, you can get a quick quote here:
Global Allianz Family Travel Insurance: Kids under 18 insured for FREE
Allianz is one of the world's largest insurance companies, you have probably come accross it through many of the companies that work with Allianz:
AAA, Orbitz, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Disney Cruise Lines...
In fact, that's how we got acquainted with it. We have purchased flight travel
insurance through American Airlines and it has once come in very handy as we did end up needing it. Filing a claim was simple and hassle free.
They offer different levels of coverage, a Classic plan is enough for most, and the prices are very competitive as well. As with the World Nomad policy, price is dependent
on duration of travel AND also the total cost of the trip and the age of the travelers.
There are no age restrictions for the Allianz policies, it is no problem for my parents who are in their 80's to obtain coverage. Many
insurance companies, including World Nomads will not provide coverage for people over a certain age, normally around 67 or 69 years and above. World Nomads has just
increased their age limit to 70.
Another feature we like about Allianz is their "Annual Policy" option, where you are insured for all your travels during the year for a flat annual fee. If
you travel a lot, then this is certainly the way to go.
